First, you need to set the forms up. This will give your slab its size and shape so it’s very important. Two-by-fours are adequate for this job. After you’ve smoothed and swept the area down, it’s time to lay down the rebar. Laying it out in a grid formation will reinforce the concrete and give it stability. This is especially important if you are pouring over both old concrete and dirt. Any dirt that your concrete is going to be poured over should be thoroughly dampened in order for the concrete to dry evenly. Now you’re ready to actually pour the concrete! Depending on space available, you can have it pumped in or shovel it from a wheelbarrow. Smooth it out as you go.

You’re off to a good start at this point! Now time to hire a concrete patio builder to finish the job.
